Poser!
A model’s job is not to just sit there and look pretty, but to sell an idea,a vision, a concept, an emotion or a product…etc etc…
I personally find it helpful to get in to character by pretending I really am that person. For example, our commercial shoot few weeks ago, where the idea we were selling was “a young couple, building a home”. Jordan, who dreams of opening his own restaurant in the future was my model partner in crime for this concept.
Together, we found that it is much easier to achieve the results we wanted if we “visualized” the scene and the concept and acted as if we really were the couple building the house.
I suggested to Jordan that he pretend this is his future restaurant being built, while looking at the blue print, I had him show me where the kitchen would be or the tables etc. The interaction became real and the shoot was a lot easier. It also helped that we were in a beautiful bright home
and had a real-life construction set up as well. It is always more helpful and easier for me to model when it is in an actual setting. Studios tend to be a lot harder since you can’t play off of your actual environment and therefore more goes in to the imagination…unless of course you are modeling with food
and you just happen to eat it all as you go along… woopsie!
